2018 working parties

What we have achieved in 2018

Fifteen of us tackled various site tasks; amongst other things, we continued to build up Plot 21 which is prone to flooding, strimmed an overgrown plot prior to remedial work on a bramble hedge, helped a plotholder cut back overgrown brambles and dealt with the pot-holes around the marquee.

Fifteen of us undertook a variety of improvement and tidy-up works around the site, including clearing overgrown plots to get them ready for reletting. We built up one plot which had had its topsoil removed by the previous tenant and cleared a couple more plots on the east side - with the Produce Show coming up soon, the marquee needed some serious work, so we fought with the bindweed, ripped up all the rotten carpet, laid woodchip under new carpet and repaired the tent panels.   Whilst the flooring is far from perfect, it should be slightly less lethal than before.

May and June

The first two of this year’s working parties were held on Saturday mornings in May and June, with a total of 32 people getting together to tackle some essential jobs around the site. These included clearing the main access road on the west side, re-instating paths on both sides and mending one of the woodchip bays, along with ad hoc tasks like pruning the grapevine near the marquee.
